I dont know how I didnt see this before ... but from my apartment complex you can (on a good day) clearly see the Tian Shan mountain range (at least I believe it's that one, there's no other range near Urumqi as far as I'm aware) ... I mean CRYSTAL clear. Against the verdant green of the trees lining the complex entrance, it really is a gorgeous sight, and I'm sure out there (where it is still snowy!) the air must be much cleaner (that being said, it's not really difficult, Urumqi is a bit of a dive).

So, when the next good day comes around (some days are nice but recently the pressure's dropped so we've had clouds or haze) and I can make them out clearly I will try to capture them with my camera (though it probably won't do it much justice, being a snapshot thingy and all) ... This can make me smile even on a shitty day when I don't want to be here at all
